I have chosen to specialize in FileMaker Pro because it is versatile enough to meet the needs of my clients, and can provide a short development time. It also works well in Mac, Windows and mixed environments. It integrates well with middleware to bring database information to the web and can front end a large number of legacy databases and programmes such as Excel. Newer versions are even more versatile, having XML capability.
Before undertaking a project, I carry out a feasibility study. If FileMaker is not an appropriate solution, I prefer to advise a client of this rather than enter into a process that will not benefit either of us ultimately.
